Personal finance for one, ready for more later

Most shared-money apps assume you already have someone to share with. SharedNest starts with you and grows only when you do.

In short

Solo mode runs SharedNest for one person: your expenses, recurring bills, category budgets, insights and goals, with splitting and settling hidden until you need them. If your household changes later, you switch mode in Settings and your history comes with you.

Euro, US dollar and pound sterling supported, with amounts formatted the way you are used to reading them.

What does solo mode actually change?

It removes everything that only makes sense with a second person. No split rules, no balance, no settle screen — just your ledger, your recurring bills, your budgets, your insights and your goals.

  • Personal Pulse showing this month at a glance
  • Recurring bills with the fixed-cost ratio of your own income
  • Category ceilings that flag at 80% before you overshoot
  • The Household Advisor answering about your numbers only
  • Savings goals with milestone notifications

Why start here instead of a budgeting app?

Because most people do not stay solo forever. Moving in with a partner, sharing a flat or co-parenting all mean shared money, and starting in SharedNest means that transition is a setting rather than a migration.

The You / Household toggle exists on every key view for exactly this reason: your personal picture never disappears when a household appears around it.

How do you switch modes later?

In Settings, choose couple, co-parents or family. SharedNest reshapes itself, runs a short welcome tour for the features that mode unlocks, and keeps every expense you have already logged.

What does a first month look like?

Add your recurring bills, log spending for a few weeks, set one or two category ceilings, then read the Monthly Snapshot. That is usually enough to see where the month actually goes.

A worked example: one person, €2,400 net

A single-person household after the first full month in SharedNest.

Net monthly income
€2,400
Rent
€850
Other recurring bills
€210
Fixed-cost ratio
44%
Variable spending
€890
Left to save
€450 (19%)

The interesting number is the last one. Nineteen percent going to goals is the difference between an emergency fund in a year and no emergency fund at all.

Questions people ask

Is SharedNest useful if I live alone?

Yes. Solo mode is a complete personal finance tracker — ledger, recurring bills, budgets, insights, goals and the AI advisor — with the shared features hidden.

Will my data survive a mode switch?

Yes. Switching mode changes which features are shown, not your history. Everything you logged stays exactly where it is.

Do I need to connect my bank?

No. Expenses are added by you or scanned from receipts, which keeps your banking credentials out of the picture entirely.

Can I invite someone later?

Yes. Switch to couple or family mode and send an invite; from that point shared expenses can be split while your private spending stays private.

What does it cost?

Everything is free at the moment while the product is being built, including the advisor and the weekly digest.
